The magnetic waves of a labyrinthine zone alter the electron of Fer, Merc and Hydro, turning them dormice. Chip, seeking a remedy, found a nickel atom carrying a piece of metal hanging on its neck to reverse the effect of waves. The boy hangs a similar piece around the neck of his friends, and all recover the sense. Then the nickel atom shows them how to exit the maze.
