Ibn Battuta heads toward the prince’s house immediately, where he is selected to work alongside a group of young men. The task he starts off with his breaking rocks, which causes his hands to swell and physical wear to surface on his body due to the strenuous labor and hardship that accompanies construction work. In this episode Ibn Battuta returns and meets the chief of the merchants who he sees alongside the prince, and the chief tells the ruler about how Ibn Battuta saved him and his caravan. The prince becomes fond of Ibn Battuta’s valiant efforts and offers him a position to work for him so that he may gather money to finance his travels. At the end of the episode, Ibn Battuta leaves, heading towards the port of Aydhab. He faces an unexpected turn of events when he finds out that prince of Aydhab had declared war on the Turks.
